October 25, 2007 By Marvin Goodwin of The Oakland Press
DETROIT — Politics aside, Kwame Kilpatrick knows something about football, too. So it was only fitting that the mayor of Detroit, a former high school and college football player, honor the Detroit Demolition of the Independent Women’s Football League in a brief ceremony celebrating the team’s IWFL championship. Detroit, which had their string of women’s championships ended by the Atlanta Xplosion last year, beat that same team 17-7, in Atlanta under sweltering heat to add to their collection of championships. The Demolition have won five women’s football titles since the team’s inception in 2002. Detroit has competed in every women’s championship game since that year.

DETROIT DEMOLITION HOLDS OFF ATLANTA XPLOSION 17-7 TO WIN THEIR FIRST IWFL NATIONAL TITLE AND GET SWEET REVENGE FOR 2006
August 13, 2007 By Detroit Demolition
The Detroit Demolition had to look deep inside themselves to find the hearts of champions to get their sweet revenge over the Atlanta Xplosion in the Independent Women’s Football League (IWFL) Championship Game Saturday, August 11. But they did find that extra something to pull out a hard-fought 17-7 victory over the previously unbeaten and defending IWFL champion Xplosion in the intense heat of
Atlanta
. The Xplosion had upset the Demolition in last year's IWFL championship game, 21-14 in
Long Beach

Detroit Demolition running back Kiana Dennis wasn't going to make the same mistake twice.
Late in the fourth quarter of the Independent Women's Football League championship game Saturday night in Roswell , Ga. , the Demolition was nursing a 10-7 lead against the Atlanta Xplosion.
Dennis had just been stopped for a short gain. She instantly knew what she did wrong.
"I didn't hit it outside like I was supposed to," Dennis said Sunday by telephone before boarding the bus back to Detroit . "But it was open, so I told the coach to run it again." Read More

DETROIT DEMOLITION OFFENSIVE TACKLE CATCHES AND TACKLES A CAR THIEF AFTER PRACTICE FOR PLAYOFF GAME
July 29, 2007 By Detroit Demolition
April Fowlkes is not somebody to be “messed with.” The star anchor of the four-time national women’s football champion Detroit Demolition offensive line stands a shade under six feet tall, tips the scale at 300 pounds and is completely fearless. She spends her time punishing the opposing team’s defensive line and knocks them on their backs. And on Monday night after practice, April went a step further in the “real world” by catching and subduing a thief who had just stolen a teammate’s car.

DEMOLITION BEATS CHICAGO FORCE FOR THE THIRD TIME THIS SEASON, 21-6 WITH SECOND HALF SURGE
July 02, 2007 By Detroit Demolition
It takes an EXCELLENT team to beat a very good team three times in a season. And for the second year in a row, the Detroit Demolition proved to be the ultimate nemesis to the Chicago Force, who hasn’t been beaten by any other team in the last two years. The Demolition again beat them three times in a season, concluding it with a big 21-6 win in Chicago. And this was the second time the Demolition won in the Force’s house. But all three games were physical and skillful tests of football for the women in orange and black over an opponent that was VERY determined to beat them. Read More

DEMOLITION LIVES UP TO NAME WITH 63-0 SHUTOUT OF THE KANSAS CITY STORM
June 18, 2007 By Detroit Demolition
Head coach Tony Blankenship did not want the Detroit Demolition to lose focus on their championship mission, which seemed back on the right track after an impressive win over
Iowa
. He needed to get his team ready for a very good opponent, the Kansas City Storm, who had just clinched their division with a 4-1 record, making the playoffs.
Practices for the week leading up to the Kansas City Storm game were quite intense and busy.
And it paid off, as the Demolition (6-1) was all business on Saturday night at Livonia Stevenson High School , stomping the Kansas City Storm 63-0, though they were playing a bit of a depleted team. The Storm’s best players were still on the field, however. Again, the Demolition proved to be incredibly dominant on both sides of the ball. Read More

SATURDAY, JUNE 16: REGULAR SEASON GAME 7
KANSAS CITY STORM
LIVONIA STEVENSON HS -- KICKOFF IS AT 7:00 PM
The Detroit Demolition (5-1) got back to winning business by destroying the Iowa Crush (1-5) 69-0 in an awesome display of dominant offense and defense. Head coach Tony Blankenship made a few shifts in his lineup after the loss to DC, most notable at quarterback. Bridget Porter was inserted at starting QB and responded by opening up the offense and contributing 250 yards of total offense and five touchdowns. The defense was also at its stingy best, harassing the Crush offensive line and skill players all game and giving up less than 50 yards of total offense. Misty Findlay had ten tackles, 2 large sacks, made all 7 of her extra points and kicked off deep into Iowa territory to set up poor field position for the Crush. Other Demolition star players, as well as players in new positions had excellent games for the “New” Demolition. Read More
DEMOLITION BACK ON THE WINNING TRACK WITH 69-0 DRUBBING OF THE IOWA CRUSH
June 11, 2007 By Detroit Demolition
Detroit Demolition head coach Tony Blankenship had not liked what he has seen of his team the last few games, and for good reason. Too many turnovers, mental errors and sloppy play culminated in an embarrassing 24-22 loss to the DC Divas, their first regular season loss in five years. So the coach knew that he needed to send a message to the team about commitment and shake a few things up, most notably at quarterback, where Kim Grodus had started every game since the team’s inception in 2002.
The Demolition responded with a thorough destruction of the Iowa Crush 69-0. Their complete domination was on both sides of the ball where star players and players at totally new positions thrived. Read More

DEMOLITION LOSE A CLOSE BATTLE WITH THE DC DIVAS
June 03, 2007 By Detroit Demolition
This year, the Demolition has taken on all comers in the regular season head on with a schedule that includes many high quality teams. They knew it would be a major challenge to go through the schedule without a blemish.
After two extremely tough victories against the Chicago Force, the Demolition had to go on the road again Saturday against an undefeated and old foe, the DC Divas. The Divas, sought revenge for two playoff loses to the Demolition, one in 2004 and one in 2005. They avenged those loses somewhat by beating the Demolition 24-22 in a tough grind-it-out game. The Divas twice came from behind to hand the Demolition their first defeat of the season with their victory late Saturday at
Prince George
’s
County
Sports
and Learning Complex in
Landover
,
Md.
It was also the first regular season defeat for the Demolition since their first year of existence in 2002. Read More
